The use of alcohol will lead to dry skin and at the same time kill the good bacteria but will also remove the bacteria causing acne. To wash the face two or three times a day with a mild, gentle soap and making sure not to touch the affected area in between washes is far more effective.
There are a lot of favorite homemade acne treatments circulating and one is the oatmeal mask. To make this mask is extremely cheap and very simple. Put a handful of oats into blender and blend until you get a powder. Mix the powder with warm water until it has formed a smooth paste, add a pinch of lavender oil or chamomile and here is your oatmeal mask. Now it is evenly put on the face and left for about 10 minutes. Then it is rinsed off with warm water; it will have unclogged the pores and the skin will feel cleansed and relaxed.
One of the more popular homemade acne treatments is rubbing pure lemon juice on the affected areas, which will provide the result looked for. Lemon juice is very acid but not as harsh as alcohol and therefore very successful in attacking the bacteria that causes the acne. If lemon juice is used the right way it will not only make sure the problem is removed but the skin won’t dry up. The vitamin C and all the other nutrients lemon juice contains are very good for the skin.
The question is do those homemade acne treatment really work. Let’s say a mild outbreak of acne or the odd pimple can easily be cared for with homemade acne treatments. For more severe acne it might pay to use something a bit stronger, ie salicylic acid or maybe a prescription cream. In the end it is all up to the individual and what kind of acne it is.
